Three Warriors named U SPORTS All-Canadians

A trio of Warriors were named U SPORTS all-Canadians on Thursday night at the All-Canadian Gala in Quebec City. Receivers Tyler Ternowski (Hamilton/) (first-team) and Gordon Lam (Kitchener/) (second-team) and Offensive Lineman Jesse Gibbon (Hamilton/) (second-team) received the prestigious honour after guiding the black and gold to their first post-season berth since 2003.

Ternowski put all of OUA and U SPORTS on notice that he is one of the elite pass-catchers in the country, leading the nation in receiving yards at 144.9 yards per game, 14 more yards than any player in U SPORTS football. He also broke the OUA single-season record for most TD catches in a single season with 14. His 14 end zone catches were six more than any other player in the nation.

Lam was also a favourite target of OUA MVP Tre Ford (Niagara Falls/), bringing in 60 catches for 815 yards and five touchdowns, and was named a second-team all-Canadian. His 101.9 yards per game was the fourth most in the country.

Finishing up just their third and second seasons respectively, Ternowski and Lam will be a dual threat for the black and gold for at least one more season if not two.

Protecting the Warriors offence was second-team all-Canadian Jesse Gibbon (Hamilton/) who wrapped up his fourth year with the Warriors. Gibbon is an incredibly smart, strong and athletic lineman who has shaped himself into one of the best in the country.

"I am extremely proud of these three guys," said head coach Chris Bertoia. "I know just how hard they have worked and it is nice to see them recognized by the national office. There could have been one more guy named an all-Canadian, but the glass is always half full around our team and it shows the direction that our program is heading."
